We like to be at or on the beach early for sunrises or late in the day for sunsets. For some reason the first couple of weeks we have concentrated on sunsets. We walk to the beach and take a cocktail. There is a walkover at the dunes which provides a nice viewing area for sunsets. Most times we meet another couple or two who are short-time visitors and share our basics; where we are from, where we are staying, and any good places we have been for dinner. They always seem fascinated with our PTL story of purposeful temporary living.
I noticed a wooden 4″x 4″ in the sand near the bottom of the steps to the beach. It had a set of car keys hanging from a nail on one side and a Barbie doll laying on the top. It appeared that maybe someone had lost these items and whoever found them on the ground had placed them near the walkover should whoever had lost these items would see them. I decided that the Barbie would be photographic with a sunset behind her in the background. So, for several days I would change her position atop the 4×4 and take a new picture. I wondered if anyone would take note. Then came a very nice and warm 77-degree day with a few families at the beach. There were several young girls playing at the water’s edge. That evening, at sundown, I noticed the Barbie doll was gone but the keys remained. Rightful owner claim or just a finder’s keeper opportunistic child, I will never know but the picture-taking is over!!
