Old Blue (Subaru) all packed and ready to leave our Atlanta home of 40 years to begin PTL Tour on July 1, 2022…Chattanooga, TN. Do we look sad? I would say we look excited and ready to start the PTL (Purposeful Temporary Living) Tour on July 1, 2022!
My mechanical abilities concerning vehicles and all the systems and components required to keep them running smoothly are minimal, at best! I say to those who ask if I travel in an RV; “NO”; I could not repair anything on an RV and do not want to be holed up in a “No tell” hotel for days or weeks awaiting parts and scheduling a mechanic to fix it. Logistics for RV parts is a real concern.
Also, the depreciation on cars and SUVs is bad enough but wait until the pandemic subsides and watch the classifieds for RVs For Sale. The resale value of RVs will fall like tree leaves in late October!
So, how do we roll? We travel in a 2016 Subaru Outback, purchased and used in 2018. Beth was the primary driver of “Old Blue”, before retirement and had a roundtrip of approximately six miles, five days a week. We now have 42,102 miles on the Outback. Accessories for the E-Bikes included a Hitch and a heavy-duty Thule bike rack. No suitcases allowed; only soft bags that can be scrunched and stacked with all travel necessities!
